You know, I *conveniently” forgot how damn ANNOYING it is to build your own website.

And for that grave error, I just spent the past hour fighting MY OWN SITE 🤦‍♀️🤣.

Absolutely on par for the course with me, folks. Technology and I do NOT get along 😒.

The difference this time around vs. when I was working on Living, Loving & Exploring, though, is that this time around, I have ChatGPT… and boy does that change the game!

Instead of spending 5 hours researching HOW to change the damn arrangement on the HOME page, I go to Chat and tell it what I’m attempting to do, and include a photo or two – and after about 5.5 seconds, it’s like, “Oh, got it, click THIS next and then click THAT…”

Honestly, that app has changed how I run things. It’s sorting emails for me, and helping me brainstorm ideas, plus encouraging me to do better with my writing.

But back to the TRUTH.

Setting up this blog has been so hard and time-consuming! I didn’t even realize until tonight that when you clicked on certain tabs on the home page…

You got CRICKETS.

No cache of the posts that corresponded with those tabs… Just the tab name, and a cute sidebar introducing… well, me. Lol.

NOT. OK.

I have been pitching ideas to tourism agencies and publicists, hotels, brands we love, and entire COUNTRIES… and my blog is over here like:

“Oh, HI there!! We only have one page working, thanks for thinking of me!!!”

Stupid m-fer.

That’s after damn near TWO WEEKS of setting it up. I don’t even know what to do with myself sometimes.

So, after I *FINALLY* fixed the site – I think. Seriously, someone other than me PLEASE check.  🤣🤣🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️  I realized I hadn’t thought about what the hell to post today.

And you know, I’ve tasked myself with having a post published 365 days… in a row.

So, that’s hard when it’s 10:20 PM, the day of and you got NADA.

But then POP!!!!

I swear, there was a lightbulb above my head:

“Kelly, you’ve been fighting this damn website for an hour – write about that LOL.”

Because I’m 100% sure I can’t possibly be the only one who is trying to do stuff like this who runs into these problems…

Right?

Kelly

This Is Apparently Part of the Process 🤦‍♀️😂

I did, after all, announce that I was going to publish every day for 365 days, so fighting the website itself was probably inevitable. And if you’d like to see how this entire mess started, there’s always the relaunch post that started In My Mom Era.

  1. Apparently I’m Posting Every Day for 365 Days. This Seems Like a Terrible Idea. – In My Mom Era Avatar

[…] the blog is still alive—and I’ve already managed to spend an evening fighting WordPress instead of actually writing. Which feels extremely on-brand. If you want the origin story for this whole experiment, start with […]

Feel free to partake in the chaos that is my life! 5 kids, a giant TBR list, dreamer of vacations, researcher of anything remotely interesting. Sums it up in a nutshell. Did I mention chaos? Lots. Of. Chaos.
