In My Mom Era

Hi… I must warn you before you go any further. I tend to ramble, a LOT, about a LOT of different things. Especially things that I find interesting. I’m Kelly, and this is me.

I’ve been a reader my whole life, as far back as I can remember. I’ve always enjoyed going after things that I want, but working in corporate America for 20 years stifled that. I lost sight of me. But I’m finally getting her back. And current me wants to write and entertain people.

This blog has been in the making for 9 and a half years! I was just too busy working the “nine-to-five” corporate bullshit to do what I wanted to do, which is write. Travel. Journal. Plan. Vacation. Raise my babies. LIVE MY LIFE. And so much more.

Speaking of my babies, I have 5, 7 if you include the dogs, and 8 if you include the husband LOL. All 5 of the kids were born after October of 2016. So my eldest will be 10 shortly, and the youngest just turned 2 in August. His twin turned 2 the same day. So that’s 4 pregnancies, 5 kids, in 7 years. And we’re not a merged family – these kids all have the same mom and dad lol – they’re quite the handful!!

Our life is a whirlwind all the time. Especially with the “boys” in school, 3rd and 4th grade, and the littles, well, little. We have sports, errands, school, auditions, family, and whatever else sounds fun at the drop of a hat!

Our life mimics my life, really. We’re the family that packs up the car and heads across the country (we live in Missouri) to visit friends just because. We’re the family that packs up the car, forgets half of what we need (especially diapers; it’s ALWAYS THE DIAPERS!!) and drives 2-3 hours away because Mom found something on Google maps that looked cool and she wanted to see it.

You might find me with my head in a book on any given day – or talking about a book – or researching something I read in a book – or buying books I don’t need, because admittedly, I’ll never be able to get through them all HAHA. (My Heaven is a library where I don’t require sleep.)

You might find us driving down some unmarked backroad trying to find a cemetery that may or may not have a long-lost relative of ours buried there. Or researching giant family histories and Bibles online to get the genealogy straight.

Tomorrow, I might be watching, “DWTS”, “Buffy,” “Reacher,” “Charmed,” “My Life With the Walter Boys,” or the “Rocky” movies – in order. Oooh, or any of the “Step Up” movies, “Titanic” (Kate & Leo, thank you), or “Pearl Harbor” (yes, Ben & Josh) lol.

Anything above is just extra fodder for me to write about. Seriously, give me something I’m into, and I can go on and on. If it sounds like something I’d be into, then down the rabbit hole I go! That’s what this is all about for me.

In My Mom Era isn’t some nice, little, “Please look at my Pinterest perfect family who is always smiling and everyone helps out, the house is always clean, and we’re thriving,” type of blog.

This is, “DAMN!! Did you SEE that over there?! Have you heard about this, that, or the other? Are your kids driving you absolutely fucking crazy today, or is it just me… and when I say today, I mean…. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.”

My house is an absolute disaster, I am terrible at cleaning,  WHY is there a Poptart on the floor again, why are you screaming, kind of mom. A “listen to me right now, or I’m taking your tablets from you for a week,” mom. I believe in discipline. Things get taken away. We will walk out of a party we JUST got to in order to teach the kids a lesson. And it hurts.

Because life is messy, my life is messy. It’s not perfect, and I’d be fucking bored if it was. So if you’re looking for perfect, or for someone who doesn’t cuss, or doesn’t ramble – then I’m not going to be a good fit for your daily routine. But maybe I am someone else’s!
