I had plans today.

I always have plans. Five kids, two dogs, a house that seems to generate laundry faster than I can wash it, a growing blog, and approximately 800 ideas running through my head at any given moment.

But today? Today is apparently canceled.

Sometimes life has a funny way of reminding you that you are, in fact, a human being and not some magical creature capable of surviving on caffeine, chaos, and sheer determination.

Rude, honestly.

So today, I’m giving myself permission to do absolutely nothing. The laundry can wait. The house will still be standing tomorrow (hopefully). And those 800 ideas? They’ll probably multiply overnight anyway.

Because sometimes being a mom means taking care of everyone else.

And sometimes it means remembering that you’re someone who needs taking care of, too.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a very important appointment with my pillow.

Assuming nobody needs a snack first.

Most days aren’t this quiet. If you’d like photographic—well, written—evidence, spend A Day In The Life of a Mom of Five with me. And when the mess and noise start getting to me, I try to remember why I wrote Let Them Be Little in the first place.

Feel free to partake in the chaos that is my life! 5 kids, a giant TBR list, dreamer of vacations, researcher of anything remotely interesting. Sums it up in a nutshell. Did I mention chaos? Lots. Of. Chaos.
